Don't deprecate a tag just because nobody's using it yet

Quote

Yeah. And we're, you know, so a good example of that is like deprecating tags out of the namespace. I've never I've never wanted to do this. I've always been opposed to this.

Summary

Dave has always been uncomfortable deprecating namespace tags, and this week showed why. Transistor added Bluesky support to the social interact tag that everyone had called dead. Had it been deprecated three months earlier for lack of adoption, Transistor would have had to build something proprietary with no chance of the cross-app adoption the tag allows.

it doesn't matter that nobody's going to use it. On day one, right? That doesn't matter. What What matters is that is well thought out. And it's a good idea.

I'm not afraid of of having tags that didn't ultimately end up never getting used. That's not a problem. I mean, people people are either going to use them find them useful, or they're not.

Then we would have take, we would have cut the knees out from under transistor and they would have had, they would have had to build some new thing on their own
