Design around the open protocol, not one product

you're gonna end up with a system where all the comments in podcasts have to use mastodon.

Summary
Even if a podcaster runs a private Mastodon instance just to own their comments, Dave says integration must use open ActivityPub. Otherwise all podcast comments end up having to use Mastodon, which is opinionated in its own way. What's missing is a schematic of the interaction points between the tag, the comment server and the app.
